Discover Elma

Imagine a place as uplifting for the soul as it is relaxing for the body.
A place of understated luxury and utter comfort, where you are surrounded by beauty at every turn…a place that, in bringing together the finest art and the warmest hospitality, brings people together from all over the world to share and experience both.
A place that understands that when you stay with art, the art stays with you long after you leave.
Such a place is the Elma Arts Complex and Luxury Hotel. Situated atop the hills of Zichron Ya'akov on 27 spectacular acres overlooking the Mediterranean, the Elma Hotel is itself a work of art.
And like the pioneers who built Zichron over a century ago, Elma brings something completely new to the world. The vision of arts patron Lilly Elstein, it offers an experience that pampers the body as it nourishes the spirit.
More than anything, the Elma Arts Complex and Luxury Hotel is a celebration of what it means to be truly alive…a place where you can experience, for a time, life as it was meant to be. We invite you to experience it for yourself.
You’ll find that when you stay at Elma, Elma stays with you.

Our iconic main building was constructed in 1968 as the Mivtachim Sanatorium and gained worldwide recognition for its innovative design, earning architect Yaacov Rechter the prestigious Israel Award for Architecture in 1973. With its clean white lines, exposed concrete, and unadorned geometrical shapes, the building embodied the essence of 1960s Israeli design. The form of the two-story structure is wavelike, following the curve of the mountain it sits atop. Additionally, the raised units create the impression that the building is floating, leading the Israel Award jury to observe, “The building provides a rare example of an architecture that synthesizes the earth and the sky.”

Purchased by Lily Elstein in 2005, the building was the centerpiece of her vision to create a world-class center for the arts and boutique hotel. Under the guidance of Amnon Rechter, Yaakov Rechter’s son, a team was assembled to restore the building according to the original plans and original materials to add two state-of-the-art concert halls and art galleries.
